    A few important medical questions

    20–30 seconds to complete

    1

Are you currently experiencing unexplained vaginal bleeding?

(For example, bleeding after 12 months without a period, or unusually heavy/irregular bleeding without a clear reason.)

HRT should not be started until this is assessed. We would advise speaking to your GP before beginning any hormone therapy.

    2

Have you ever been diagnosed with breast cancer, endometrial cancer, or another hormone-sensitive cancer?

These situations require specialist input before considering HRT.

We would advise discussing HRT with your GP or specialist first.

    3

Have you ever had a blood clot (DVT/PE) or been told you have a clotting disorder?

Some forms of HRT may still be suitable, but consultant review is essential.

    4

Do you have untreated high blood pressure?

Blood pressure should be assessed and managed before starting HRT.

    5

Are you under 45 with symptoms that began suddenly?

This may suggest early menopause (POI) or another condition.

We would advise speaking with your GP for appropriate NHS investigations.

    Book a consultation

A detailed, supportive consultation with a senior consultant doctor.

    During your appointment, we will:

    • Review your symptoms and how they affect day-to-day life
    • Explore whether they are menopause-related or have another cause
    • Discuss whether HRT is appropriate
    • Outline treatment options, benefits, and safety considerations
    • Help you understand what to expect moving forward

Based on your answers, the safest next step is:

    • An NHS assessment

Some situations — such as unexpected bleeding, high blood pressure, cancer history, clotting concerns, or possible early menopause — require specific investigations before HRT can be considered.

You are not excluded from care — you simply need the right pathway.

    Option 1

    Book a consultation

A consultation can still be extremely helpful if you want:

    • Expert evaluation of your symptoms
    • Clarity on whether HRT may be suitable
    • Guidance on alternatives or next steps
    • A personalised medical plan

    Option 2

    Speak to Your NHS GP

For some issues (e.g., unexplained bleeding), the NHS is best placed to arrange initial investigations such as:

    • Pelvic ultrasound
    • Endometrial biopsy
    • Blood pressure review
    • Clotting assessments

We will always guide you towards the safest option for your health.
